The original incarnation of Woodstock occurred August 15th through 18th, 1969 in Bethel, NY and featured more than 30 acts performing for more than 400,000 people. In August 1969, the Woodstock Music & Art Fair took place on a dairy farm in Bethel, NY.
Woodstock 50 investors did not want the music festival to become the next Fyre Fest. On Monday (April 29), it was announced that the highly-anticipated Woodstock 50, which was scheduled take place from August 16-18 in Watkins Glen, New York, had been canceled.
Original Woodstock promoter Michael Lang announced Wednesday that the official 50th anniversary concert, dubbed "Woodstock 50," will be held in Central New York. A three-day festival honoring the original 1969 event, will take place at Watkins Glen, located 80 miles outside of Syracuse, on Aug. 16, 17 and 18, 2019.
